Now, you have to understand that my Tivo is like no one else's Tivo. My Tivo understands me. My Tivo puts my needs and desires above anything else. And, dare I say, I think my Tivo might have a bit of a crush on me. How else can you explain what's going on in my Suggestions folder?
In the beginning, it was a bit rough. Tivo was recording programs like CSI or Monster Garage with alarming frequency. Shows I never watch. Then there was the hours on end of Major League Baseball, which is fine and all, but why clog up the memory, I would only watch it if someone else wanted to watch it. Then I noticed Tivo was recording some interesting documentaries and nature shows, obviously trying to arouse my intellectual yearnings. Well it worked, we spent hours together learning about tornadoes and Quantum Mechanics and ancient Egypt. It wasn't until I looked in my suggestions folder and saw Hooking Up that I understood Tivo's intentions.
Then things took a turn for the worse.
As you all know I've gone out on some dates recently. I don't know how else to explain this but for the past week my Tivo Suggestions folder has remained empty. I think I may have really hurt Tivo's feelings. I knew I had to win back the affection of my Tivo. So I bought a wireless USB to link Tivo up to my home network. It arrived on Friday and I ran upstairs to promptly insert it into Tivo's backside. Now Tivo was linked in, playing my music and looking at my pictures. Tivo not only resided on my TV but also on my computer's desktop. It was like pure synergy. We were back!
When I turned on the TV yesterday morning I immediately went to my suggestions folder and I noticed there was one program in there: Perfect Proposal.
I think things are moving too fast. I may have to pull the plug on this.

You crack me up… When I moved east from LA, I left my Tivo behind, for a Comcast DVR. I miss Tivo, it’s crazy suggestions, and bloop-bloop-bloops. We really had something going there.
Just when I thought I had left SPANISH behind, my TiVo started recording all these programs in the foreign language. I took it as a hint, and quickly erased all of them.

I’m not ready to watch TV until 11:00 and Buffy’s been over for four hours by then. But, then came satellite with the TiVo reciever and I’m all about TV now. Throw in Netflix and I just don’t have time for human interaction anymore.
Your tivo is smart. Hooking Up was the most entertaining show on TV for a whole month. And I’m not even kidding.
That is a bit disturbing…hopefully a coincidence. I had to give up my TiVo for a Comcast DVR so I could record HiDef…I still miss it. May it rest in peace!
One insider secret is if you can get a hold of the older model ReplayTV (a Tivo clone), it still skips the commericals automatically until they made that “illegal.”
Meme, have you thought of setting up your Tivo with someone else’s Tivo so it will get over you and your new romance?

this is why i love your site - i share your tivo (initially not knowing me) issues and also got the “i love me” undies for xmas for “my between dating” usage.
My TiVo just don’t understand me. Why must it always record Extreme Makeover-type shows in Spanish for me? I’m not a gay Hispanic homemaker. Although maybe it’s lonely… I’ve been debating getting another TiVo for the bedroom and networking the two so they can play together while I’m away at work.
my TIVO loves Dr. Phip. It’s obsessed with him. My TIVO is also obsessed with Jim Kramer from MAD MONEY. I gots to school the TIVO and ground it for a good long time.
