I'd like to take the opportunity to respond to an exciting bit of mail received at the girlspoke mailbox recently.

Message: I have a question regarding model trains and railroads. I
was wondering if you could survey the women of your site if they have
a preference for scale- personally, my favorite is N scale, but I no
that O, G, HO, and Z scales are pretty popular as well.
It seems to me there's more available "scener" pieces to get with N
scale- do any of you gals belong to any local model railroad clubs in
your area?

Dear Ron,
I can't speak for the rest of the women on this site, but I certainly agree with your N scale preference. Lest I make too grandiose a generality, I'm going to go out on a limb and state that the N scale is not only your or my scale of choice, but the choice that white people are most likely to make.
I mean, am I right or am I right? What is it with black people and G scale trains? That is yet another divide widening the gap between our respective communities.
Oh boy, the differences between the races- they are so dependably comical! But seriously folks, I strongly believe that race plays no role in model train scale preference. In fact, I feel that one's penchant for a particular scale of model train lies deep within their experiences as a youth. In my youth, I greatly enjoyed riding along the countryside in cars driven by strangers and local scallywags. AND I prefer the N scale. Do you see the connection?
For those of you who don't know much about model trains, let me tell you:
N scale trains are small like my delicate hands. Yes indeed, I have the hands of a lady, though this one kid Dave in high school told me I had penguin fingers.
G scale trains are used in gardens. Oh how I love a good garden tea party with finger sandwiches to boot! However, I do not prefer the G scale because I do not have a garden to call my own.
But I must also say, of all things in the model train world, I most enjoy the figures that I can place within the scene. Oh what joy I experience when I move about the little people, living vicariously through them in their idyllic train filled world! If only real life were such a delight, where I could ride about all day, hop on and off, nary a worry about fare … ah the carefree whimsy of miniatures … as opposed to the grating pain of the real world, choc full of hate and misery. Oh how I long to kill myself.
Also, I do not belong to any local model railroad clubs. It seems they will not have me as a member. I try to threaten my way in, but haven't had much success as of late.
Anyhow, I hope that answers your questions, Ron. I'd like to go on at much greater lengths about this exciting topic, but there are only so many hours in a day, and I've taken a liking to eating, showering and sleeping. Right now I am about to shower up for another exciting work day. Good day to you, and best wishes!
Love,
Heather

Personally I’m partial to the HO scale.
I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Heatherm, I know my train is a “HO” scale.. and I don’t think it would even fit in your tunnel… we can certainly check it out though if you’re interested.
